Re: Stand in Solidarity: Black Lives Matter
As an organization built to support women of color, we stand with our members during this time where black and brown communities are affected the most. Gamma Alpha Omega does not and will not condone any acts of racism and/or social injustice anywhere. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and George Floyd. They are one of many individuals killed due to racial profiling, racism, and police brutality. We cannot fully express how any of those incidents impacts each of you. Many of you do not feel safe. Many of you are just tired. The National Executive Board of Gamma Alpha Omega shares those same feelings. Black lives matter and we must demand action.
We have the responsibility to uphold our mission and values. If you share those same values, we call on you to speak up. Your silence is loud. We must hold each other accountable. We can be part of the #WeAreDoneDying campaign, initiated by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
